Chairman Wontumi’s alleged remarks, which insinuated a clandestine marriage between Prof. Opoku-Agyemang and John Mahama, as well as misrepresentation of her regional origins, drew sharp criticism from Awuni. She accused him of tribalism and disrespect towards accomplished individuals.

Expressing frustration, Awuni questioned Chairman Wontumi’s lack of decorum in his speech, suggesting that his wealth might be clouding his judgment.

She vowed to pursue legal action to uphold the dignity of Prof. Opoku-Agyemang and deter future derogatory remarks.
