Christian Atsu’s agents Murat Uzunmehmet and Nana Sechere have confirmed that the Ghanaian winger has been found dead.

Murat Uzunmehmet announced the sad news of Christian Atsu’s demise in a tweet originally in Turkish and means:

Christian Atsu Cause Of Death
Christian Atsu, 31, was a victim of the deadly earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6.
On 14 February 2023, Christian Atsu’s agent has confirmed two pairs of his shoes had been found, but that Atsu himself had still not been found.
Four days later, Atsu’s Turkish agent Murat Uzunmehmet confirmed that his dead body has been found.

Christian Atsu’s Ghanaian agent Nana Sechere also confirmed the sad news of Christian Atsu’s demise via a tweet which reads:
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning
My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support

Tributes have been pouring in since his agent announced the sad news.

Who Was Christian Atsu?
Christian Atsu Twasam was a Ghanaian professional footballer who last played for Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor.
A Ghanaian international, Christian Atsu began his international playing career with Porto, also spending a season on loan at Rio Ave.
In 2013, he was signed by Chelsea for £3.5 million, who subsequently loaned him to Vitesse Arnhem, Everton, AFC Bournemouth and Málaga.
After spending the 2016–17 season on loan at Newcastle United, he completed a permanent transfer to the club in May 2017.
He also played for Al-Raed.
Christian Atsu bagged over 60 caps since his debut in 2012 for The Black Stars.
He represented Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
He helped the team finish as runners-up at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, in which he also won Player of the Tournament and Goal of the Tournament.
Christian Atsu is survived by his mother, twin sister, a brother, his wife Marie-Claire Rupio and children; two sons and a daughter.
