Christopher Shannon Penn (Chris Penn) was an American actor. He was born on October 10, 1965 and passed away on January 24, 2006 at age 40.

What was Chris Penn’s cause of death? An autopsy and subsequent toxicology report performed by a Los Angeles County medical examiner revealed the primary cause of his death was “nonspecific cardiomyopathy” (heart disease).
The report also indicated that the prescription drug promethazine with codeine and an enlarged heart were possible contributing factors to his death.
The toxicology report further revealed that Valium, morphine, marijuana and an elevated level of codeine were found in his bloodstream.

Penn gained considerable weight throughout the 1990s and at the timeof death, weighed 300 lbs.

One of his brothers, Sean Penn said publicly in an interview on Larry King Live that his brother {Chris] probably died because of his weight.
Chris was a very talented actor who was often cast tough character and starred mostly as a villain or a working-class thug, or in a comic role.
