Chris Klieman is a former player and American football coach. Chris Klieman was born in Waterloo, Iowa on September 27, 1967, to Robert “Bob” Klieman and Mary Kay.

He grew up in Waterloo and attended Columbus Catholic High School before graduating in 1986. He was a standout athlete in high school, playing quarterback and defensive back on the football team.
Chris Klieman father, Bob, is a member of the Upper Iowa University Athletic Hall of Fame as well as a Hall of Fame official and a long-time coach of both golf and football at Columbus Catholic High School. Klieman has two siblings: Sarah, his sister, and Scott, his brother.

Klieman attended the University of Northern Iowa after high school, where he played defensive secondary for the Panthers football team from 1986 to 1990.
Chris Klieman is the current head coach of Kansas State University in the Big 12 Conference. From 2014 to 2018, Chris Klieman was the head football coach at North Dakota State, where he won five conference championships and four national championships.
