Chris Hipkins Parents: Who are Doug Hipkins and Rosemary Hipkins?

Doug Hipkins and Rosemary Hipkins are the parents of Chris Hipkins, who is the Prime Minister. There is very little information about Doug, however, it is known that Rosemary is the Chief Researcher for the New Zealand Council for Educational Research.

Born on September 5, 1978, Chris Hipkins attended Waterloo Primary School and Hutt International School. He was the head boy at Hutt Valley Memorial  College (now known as Petone College) in 1996. He also attended Victoria University of Wellington and became the student president in 2000 and 2001.

However, in his first year in college, along with dozens were arrested while protesting against Tertiary Review Green Bill at Parliament. The case went through the courts and was fully resolved after 10 years.

An Apology and award of over $200,000 were shared among the 41 protestors. The judge ruled that despite several claims by the police that the protestors were violent, the protest was peaceful and there were no grounds for arrest.
