Chiefs Star Travis Kelce Signs 2-Year Extension, Stays with Kansas City

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday, April 29, 2024 that they have reached a two-year contract extension with star tight end Travis Kelce, extending his tenure with the team through the 2027 season.

According to reports from ESPN and NFL Network, Kelce’s new deal is valued at $34.25 million over the extension period, solidifying his status as the highest-paid player in his position.

Expressing his excitement, Kelce took to social media, stating, “It feels good to be in KC. I remember coming here 12 years ago. It’s an honor and a pleasure and I can’t wait to get after it these next two years but no better than right now. I’m getting fired up for this year. I just got out on the field with the boys and we’re back at it, baby. Chiefs forever.”

Kelce, widely regarded as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, boasts an impressive resume, including nine Pro Bowl selections and three Super Bowl championships. Last year, he set the all-time record for postseason receptions with 165, contributing significantly to the Chiefs’ consecutive title victories.

With 907 career receptions and 11,328 receiving yards, Kelce ranks fourth in NFL history for his position. He holds several records for tight ends, including most 1,000-yard seasons (7), consecutive 1,000-yard seasons (7), single-season receiving yards (1,416), and games with more than 100 yards receiving (37).

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed his delight at the news, stating on social media, “I told ya’ll I’ll never let him leave!! Congrats my guy!”
