Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a staunch advocate for justice and a leading legal figure in Ghana.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 2024 Africa Conference of the International Association of Women Judges, CJ Torkornoo commended President Akufo-Addo’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law.
She highlighted his illustrious career as a private legal practitioner and his presidency, emphasizing his dedication to safeguarding rights and advancing justice.
“The Excellency has left an indelible mark on the legal landscape of our nation, showcasing himself as one of the most distinguished legal minds. His presidency has further underscored his steadfast belief in the rule of law, benefiting the judicial service of Ghana through remarkable advancements in physical and technological infrastructure,” remarked CJ Torkornoo.

The conference, themed “The Role of Women Judges in Combating Negative Cultural Practices in Contemporary Times,” provided a platform for discussing critical issues of gender equality and judicial activism.
President Akufo-Addo, reflecting on his administration’s contributions to the judiciary, highlighted significant strides in enhancing court infrastructure and providing residential facilities for judges nationwide since assuming office in 2017.
“Since taking office, my administration has prioritized the improvement of court infrastructure and residential facilities for judges across the country, achieving notable progress in this regard,” stated President Akufo-Addo.
The conference, attended by both the president and the chief justice, took place in Accra on May 13, 2024.
