In March, Okezie overcame all obstacles to claim the top prize in the men’s 400m event at the African Games after running an exceptionally impressive race in the final, achieving a Personal Best (PB) of 45.06 seconds.

Okezie defeated Muzala Samukonga from Zambia, one of the world’s fastest men over this distance, to claim the gold medal.
