From 2006 to 2009, Chandler Stephenson played bantam hockey with the Saskatoon Generals of the Greater Saskatoon Hockey League.

Chandler Stephenson finished his sophomore season with 22 goals and 42 points through 55 games. Stephenson earned a final NHL Central Scouting Bureau ranking of 33rd amongst Canadian Hockey League (CHL) players.

In his first full season in the AHL, Chandler Stephenson was used in a checking role where he tallied seven goals and seven assists. Stephenson finished the 2016–17 regular season with a new career-high 38 points through 72 regular-season AHL games.

Chandler Stephenson made his debut on December 3, 2019, playing alongside Tomáš Nosek and Ryan Reaves, where he scored the opening goal in a 4–3 victory over the New Jersey Devils.

After starting the 2022–23 season with 44 points through 51 games, Chandler Stephenson was named to his first career NHL All-Star Game, as an injury replacement for Matty Beniers.
