Chael Sonnen was handed a two-year suspension from mixed martial arts by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) at a hearing in Las Vegas.

Chael Sonnen earlier tested positive for the banned substances on two separate occasions for human growth hormone, EPO, anastrozole and clomiphene. He tested positive for anastrozole and clomiphene in a random drug test in Las Vegas ahead of his planned UFC 175 fight against Wanderlei Silva.

Chael Sonnen is an American submission grappling promoter, mixed martial arts analyst, and retired mixed martial artist.

In December 2007, Chael Sonnen fought Paulo Filho for the WEC Middleweight Championship, however, he lost via a controversial submission at 4:55 of the second round.

On the June 11, 2014, episode of UFC Tonight, Chael Sonnen announced his retirement from MMA competition.

Chael Sonnen faced Quinton Jackson for the Bellator Heavyweight World Grand Prix Tournament on January 20, 2018, at Bellator 192 and won the fight via unanimous decision.
