Chabelo obituary

Mexican-American actor and comedian, Chabelo, born Xavier Lopez Rodriguez, has been reported dead by close sources and family. He died on Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was 88 years old when he died. He died due to abdominal complications.

He was known for being a children’s music singer who worked on tv for over 60 years and participated in more than thirty (30) motion pictures and also recorded over thirty (30) musical albums.

His family released a statement via social media to announce his death.

“This is a very sad morning, Xavier Lopez Chabelo, father, brother, and husband, has left us suddenly due to abdominal complications,” the statement read.

“With a broken soul and knowing that many people have loved him for many years and that they will feel his loss, we ask you to pray  for his rest and allow us to mourn peacefully the grief that overwhelms our entire family,” the family said.

Mexican President, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, also wrote a tribute following the dead of Chabelo.

“Hugs to family and friends for the death of Xavier Lopez ‘Chabelo.’ How can I forget that my eldest son woke up so early to see him more than 40 years ago,” he wrote in a social media post.

He was known for hosting the Sunday morning show dubbed En Familia con Chabelo for 48 straight years.
