Catherine Leigh Osterman is a retired American softball pitcher from Houston, Texas.

Osterman was among the United States Women’s Softball Team, which won gold in the 2004 Summer Olympics and silver in the 2008 and 2020 Summer Olympics.

She was a four-time All-American at the undergraduate level and a six-time professional All-Star.

Osterman graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006, where she was a starting pitcher for the Longhorns since 2002.

She holds the Big 12 Conference pitching Triple Crown for her career wins, ERA, strikeouts, shutouts, no-hitters, WHIP, and perfect games, as well as the NCAA Division I record for strikeout ratio (14.34).

In the National Pro Fastpitch, Osterman was drafted number 1 and is the career leader in strikeout ratio (10.90) and no-hitters (6). She’s also one of only five pitchers in NCAA history to strike out 1,000 hitters while concurrently winning 100 games, having an ERA under 1.00, and averaging double-digit strikeouts.

Osterman was a member of the “This Is Us” team. She joined the Athletes Unlimited Softball league in May 2020 and ultimately won the inaugural championship as the top individual point leader.

Osterman was also named No. 3 Greatest College Softball Player and the No. 1 pitcher in NCAA history.

Cat Osterman is in her sixth season as an assistant coach, third as associate head coach, for the Bobcats where she serves as the pitching coach.

Joey Ashley is widely known as the husband of Cat Osterman.

The pair have been married since 2016 and their bond is still solid.

Joey Ashley is an assistant coach with the Texas State University golf program.

Born in Port Aransas, Texas, he was a two-sport athlete for the Tornados, competing for four years on the golf team and three seasons with the men’s basketball squad.

Ashley graduated from Concordia University in Austin, Texas, with a bachelor’s degree in transdisciplinary studies and a master’s degree in educational administration.

He went to Texas State after coaching at the high school level for 13 years in Texas.

Ashley served as the head coach for four seasons at both Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville and MacArthur High School in San Antonio. He also was an assistant coach for five years at Reagan High School in San Antonio.

In 2010, he was named the San Antonio Express-News Golf Coach of the Year after leading MacArthur to the District 26-5A championship and a second-place finish in the Region IV-5A Tournament.

He also staffed and directed the Texas Junior Golf Tour for 11 years in the Austin/San Antonio area.

Joey Ashley is in his third year as an assistant coach with the Texas State men’s golf program after helping the Bobcats break four school records last season.

Ashley resides in New Braunfels with his wife Cat Osterman and daughter Bracken.
