Edwards is a graduate of the University of Georgia and hails from Atlanta.
She is a trained public relations officer who began working with the Capitol Police in 2017.
Edwards had boldly criticized her department for its lack of preparation, following the January 5, 2021 pro-trump riot.
She had stood before the committee and made her confessions about how her colleague was killed by the angry mob.

“It was something like I had seen out of the movies,” Edwards told the committee and a prime-time national television audience during testimony that was both gripping and gut-wrenching. “I couldn’t believe my eyes. There were officers on the ground they were bleeding. They were throwing up. … I saw friends with blood all over their faces. I was slipping in people’s blood”, she had said.
A video camera showed the mob violently pushing against the barricades and four other Capitol Police colleagues.
Edwards had suffered a concussion that day after she was knocked backwards.
The mob had nearly over powered all of the police defense, but Edward refused to give up on the struggle.
About 140 Capitol and D.C. police officers were injured in the riot that day.
