Since September 6, 2022, Tohá has assumed the role of Minister of Interior and Public Security of Chile, serving under the presidency of Gabriel Boric. Her dedication to public service and her commitment to advancing the welfare of Chilean citizens reflect her deep-rooted values and principles.
Tohá’s impressive political career includes serving as the Minister Secretary General of Government during the first government of President Michelle Bachelet, becoming the first woman to hold this position. Additionally, she has played a pivotal role in the Party for Democracy (PPD), serving as its president from August 2010 to June 2012.
Prior to her ministerial roles, Tohá served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies, representing the 22nd district for two consecutive periods from 2002 to 2009.
She has also contributed to local governance as the mayor of the Santiago commune from 2012 to 2016, demonstrating her commitment to serving her community at both the national and local levels.
