Carl Cecil Cain, a renowned American basketball player and former Hawkeye All-American, passed away on June 2, 2024, at the age of 89.

Born in Freeport, Illinois, Cain made his mark in college basketball playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He was a key member of the “Fabulous Five” and his outstanding performance led to his number 21 being retired by the University of Iowa basketball program.
