Captain James Murray Grant: Who is Hugh Grant’s father?

Captain James Murray Grant is well known as the father of English movie star Hugh Grant.

James served in the Seaforth Highlanders as an officer in Malaya and Germany and was awarded as a DSO for courage and leadership at Saint-Valery-en-Caux during WWII.

He married Fynvola Susan MacLean, a former teacher at West London’s public schools. She used to be a Latin, French, and music teacher at the school.

James and his late wife MacLean married in 1957 and they were together till her death in 2001.

Hugh Grant and James Grant Grant are their two children.

However, Hugh Grant is an English actor.

After completing his high school education at Latymer Upper School in 1978, Grant earned a Galsworthy scholarship to New College, Oxford where he studied literature and graduated with a 2.1 grade.

Grant joined the Oxford University Dramatic Society and was Fabian in a production of Twelfth Night and made his big screen debut in Privileged (1982) which was directed by Michael Hoffman.

Since then, he has starred in many movies and tv shows such as Notting Hill, Love Actually, Bridget Jones’s Diary, The Gentlemen, and more.
