Candice Dupree attended Paul R. Wharton High School in Tampa, Florida, where she participated in basketball. Dupree began playing professionally in 2006 after playing basketball for Temple Owls women’s basketball from 2002 to 2006.

The Chicago Sky selected Dupree with pick number 6 in the first round of the 2006 Women’s National Basketball Association draft. In the fall of 2009, Dupree received an invitation to the training camp for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team. Twenty players, including Dupree, were selected for the national team pool.

From 2002 through 2006, Dupree played basketball for Temple University. She received various honors and prizes while playing college basketball, leading to comparisons to Tim Duncan of the NBA.
