Can you survive The Marburg Virus Disease? Is Marburg Virus Disease fatal?

Marburg Disease is a highly contagious viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Marburg virus. The disease has a case fatality ratio of up to 88 %, but this number can be significantly reduced with proper patient care.

The time from infection to the onset of symptoms, or incubation period, ranges from 2 to 21 days.

The Marburg virus causes sudden onset illness characterized by a high fever, excruciating headaches, and excruciating malaise.

A common feature is aches and pains in the muscles. On the third day, severe watery diarrhoea, cramping and pain in the abdomen, nausea, and vomiting are all possible.

Between five and seven days, many patients experience severe hemorrhagic manifestations, and fatal cases frequently involve multiple sites of bleeding.

Confusion, irritability, and aggression can result from central nervous system involvement. In the late stages of the illness, there have been sporadic reports of orchitis (inflammation of one or both testicles).

Death in fatal cases typically occurs 8 to 9 days after the onset of symptoms and is typically preceded by significant blood loss and shock.
