Despite the UK government blocking his assets, Roman Abramovich can still sell Chelsea – but only if none of the earnings go to the Russian oligarch. A Ghanaian businessman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako among many prospective buyers have all submitted their bid.

The billionaire was eventually sanctioned on Thursday, March 10, 2022 morning after the government said he was “engaged in destabilizing Ukraine and undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine” through the steel production company Evraz PLC.

Chelsea has been granted a special license by the government, which prohibits ticket sales, player transfers, new contracts, and retail sales, among other things. Last week, Abramovich put Chelsea up for sale, stating that the ‘net revenues’ will go to ‘victims of the Ukrainian war.’
