Cameron first became interested in basketball when he was just five years old. When he was younger, Kove Byrant was his idol. Thomas played basketball for his high school squad. During his first year, he participated in sports for Oscar F. Smith High School.

Cam transferred to Oak Hill Academy for his junior year after being unable to play for the sophomore year. Thomas led his club to a 31-5 record with an average of 26.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He presently competes for the Louisiana State University basketball team in the NCAA Division I.
