American basketball star and NBA player Caleb Swanigan has passed away at the age of 25.

Caleb died of natural causes. His death was announced on Twitter by his former team, Purdue.

“The world lost a gentle soul last night,” Purdue said in the tweet.

Caleb played with Purdue between 2016 a d 2017 and was ranked amongst the Big Ten Player of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten Honors.

Caleb was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2017 NBA draft.

He had only spent three seasons with the NBA.

Caleb Swanigan Early Life

Caleb had been a homeless kid ling in shelters. He had attended 13 different schools before he clocked 13.

He was later adopted by AAU coach Roosevelt Barnes, who sponsored him through high school at Homestead High in Fort Wayne, Ind.

As a high school player, he won a state title and earned the name, McDonald’s All-American.

After his sophomore year, he left Purdue, with single-season records for rebounds and double-doubles.
