However, according to his memoir, The Pro, Christy was the one who encouraged him to move on with his life and get to where he is now. During the 1980s, he battled as a broke, alone, unemployed, and homeless man.
‘Somehow I came this far with a great wife and a great life, which is something to be thankful for,’ he says. From 1987 to 2006, Christy Harmon worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines.

Butch Harmon played on the PGA Tour for one year before moving on to a successful career as a golf coach. Throughout the 1970s, he was King Hassan II of Morocco’s personal golf coach.
He rose to international prominence as Tiger Woods’ instructor from 1993 until 2004. In addition to Phil Mickelson, he has coached Ernie Els, Fred Couples, Natalie Gulbis, and Gary Woodland.
Since 2003, Golf Digest Magazine has named him the top golf instructor in the United States. Harmon has written golf instructional books under the titles Four Cornerstones of Winning Golf and Butch Harmon’s Playing Lessons.
