James “Buster” Corley was the co-founder of the popular Dave & Buster’s restaurant and entertainment chain. Buster Corley was the father of Kate Corley.

Buster Corley died on January 2, 2023, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his home near White Rock Lake. He was 72.
In fact, his daughter Kate Corley, confirmed his death to WFAA-TV but asked for privacy for her family.
She told the broadcaster that her father Buster Corley recently suffered a stroke that “caused severe damage to the communication and personality part of his brain.”
Buster Corley was described as a “innovative and creative force” by Dave & Busters in a statement confirming his death.

“His pioneering spirit and unwavering belief that ‘everybody is somebody’ laid the groundwork for bringing food and games to millions of Dave & Buster’s guests over the past 40 years,” a company statement said.
“Buster’s passion for hospitality, his demand for excellence, and the deep care he had for his team members were unparalleled.”
“Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time, and while we will miss his wise counsel and easy laugh, the legacy he and Dave built will live on,” the statement said.
