Buster Corley Cause of Death

James “Buster” Corley, co-founder of the popular Dave & Buster’s restaurant and entertainment chain, died on January 2, 2023,  of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his home near White Rock Lake. He was 72.

Corley was described as a “innovative and creative force” by Dave & Busters in a statement confirming his death.

“His pioneering spirit and unwavering belief that ‘everybody is somebody’ laid the groundwork for bringing food and games to millions of Dave & Buster’s guests over the past 40 years,” a company statement said.

“Buster’s passion for hospitality, his demand for excellence, and the deep care he had for his team members were unparalleled.”

“Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time, and while we will miss his wise counsel and easy laugh, the legacy he and Dave built will live on,” the statement said.

According to statement from his daughter Kate, “Buster Corley had a stroke four months ago that caused severe damage to the communication and personality part of his brain.”

Dave & Buster’s paid tribute to their late co-founder in a Facebook post shared Wednesday, beginning with the quote, “Everybody is somebody, everybody is a star.”

“RIP to Buster Corley, to whom we owe half our name and all of our thanks,” the company wrote. “You will be missed.”
