Derrel McKinley “Bud” Harrelson was an American professional baseball shortstop, coach, and manager. He played for the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and Texas Rangers from 1965 to 1980.

Bud Harrelson’s First Wife: Meet Yvonne Harrelson
Harrelson married twice in his lifetime, his first union with Yvonne in 1965 and later with Kim Battaglia in 1975, both concluded in divorces. Harrelson and Battaglia split in 2010 after being married for 34 years but she later became his caretaker.

At the age of 79, Harrelson passed away in East Northport, New York, on January 10, 2024, from Alzheimer’s disease. Bud Harrelson’s cause of death was the Alzheimer’s disease he had been battling.
After receiving an Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2016, Harrelson fought the illness for several years. In 2021, he was forced to relocate to an assisted living facility. He achieved a lot, both as a player and as a coach, but Bud Harrelson’s wife and other people closer to him did not hear good news when the news of his death broke.
