Bruce Murray was a Test cricketer known for playing 13 Tests as a right-handed opening batsman for New Zealand.

Murray played for several seasons in the Plunket Shield, and became his team’s highest scorer, with 351 runs at an average of 43.87.

He also wrote several textbooks on geography and was appointed a Companion of the Queen’s Service Order for public services during the late Queen’s Golden Jubilee Honours.
Murray passed away from an unknown cause on January 10, 2023.

Bruce was married to his wife Shona and had three daughters, a son, and grandchildren.
His granddaughters Amelia Kerr and Jess Kerr are also international cricketers, with the former appearing in the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
