The first significant health incident occurred on 8 October 2015, when Forsyth was admitted to the hospital after a mishap at his home. A month later, Forsyth made his last full TV appearance on the Strictly Children in Need Special. Unbeknownst to viewers, filming for this appearance occurred before Forsyth underwent surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm on 12 November 2015. The surgery was a significant event, and its aftermath would impact Forsyth’s ability to maintain his regular public presence.

Following the surgery, Forsyth faced challenges that prevented him from hosting the planned Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special that year. Despite being unable to appear physically, Forsyth’s spirit endured, as he played a part in the production by recording a special video message for the audience.

As the years progressed, Forsyth’s health continued to decline. His wife, Lady Wilnelia Merced, shared insights into the difficulties he faced, emphasizing the challenges he encountered in moving easily. Forsyth’s resilience shone through, but the toll of his health struggles was evident.

On 26 February 2017, Forsyth was once again admitted to the hospital, this time with a severe chest infection. The gravity of the situation led to a five-day stay in intensive care. Despite the severity of the infection, Forsyth displayed remarkable strength, and on 3 March 2017, he returned home.
