Broderick Smith was an Australian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and occasional actor of British origin.

Broderick Smith died at the age of 75 on 30 April 2023. In a statement released by his son Ambrose Kenny-Smith, he ‘died peacefully at home’ over the weekend.

He added, “I hope you finally find the holy grail of harmonica tones wherever you are. “I adore you to pieces. Without you, I’m lost, but the show must go on. “Goodbye, for now, you beautiful lil weirdo wombat.”

Broderick Smith was a member of the 1970s bands Sundown, Carson and the Dingoes, and Broderick Smith’s Big Combo in the 1980s, as well as recording and performing solo and in duos.

He appeared on stage in the 1973 Australian adaptation of the rock opera Tommy, as well as in minor roles in the 1990s television series Blue Heelers, Snowy River: The McGregor Saga, and State Coroner.

Broderick Smith was involved in the creation of over 200 songs and taught songwriting, harmonica, and vocals workshops.
