Broderick Smith, frontman of The Dingoes, died at the age of 75 on 30 April 2023.

In a statement released by his son Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Smith, 75, is reported to have ‘died peacefully at home’ over the weekend.
He added, “I hope you finally find the holy grail of harmonica tones wherever you are. “I adore you to pieces. Without you, I’m lost, but the show must go on. “Goodbye, for now, you beautiful lil weirdo wombat.”

Since his death was announced, he has been remembered fondly online, with musician Dan Warner tweeting, ‘Vale Broderick Smith – one of the greatest Australian singers from one of the greatest Australian bands…’

Ross Wilson, the founder of Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock, wrote ‘RIP Broderick Smith. A contemporary of mine, a buddy. ‘We came up through the same teen blues scene in mid-1960s Melbourne blowing harps & belting out the boogie. ‘Carson, Dingoes, Big Combo, he left his mark.
Condolences to his family.’ Guitarist Cal Shortal, who plays with Smiths’ son, tweeted ‘Rest in peace Broderick Smith, your talent with live on through Ambrose and you will not be forgotten.’
