Brie Larson was born to Sylvain and Heather Desaulniers in Sacramento, California in 1989. Her parents were chiropractors who ran a practice together. Brie was home-schooled and never attended a traditional high school.

Brie Larson started studying drama at the age of 6, as the youngest student ever to attend the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Her parents divorced when she was 7 years old, and her mother moved her and her sister to Los Angeles from Sacramento so that Brie could pursue her acting dreams.

Brie’s mother, Heather Desaulniers, has always been one of her biggest supporters. Sylvain Desaulniers, Brie’s father, is French-Canadian and taught Brie French, her first language.
Brie Larson’s first major role came as Emily, the younger daughter of Bob Saget’s character, in the WB sitcom Raising Dad. She featured in Noah Baumbach’s comedy-drama Greenberg and Edgar Wright’s comedy Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
For playing a kidnapping victim in the drama Room (2015), Brie Larson won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Larson also appeared in the action film Fast X (2023).
