Ghanaian freelance journalist, media personality, and public relations officer Bridget Otoo has voiced concern about the inadequate salaries for journalists in Ghana.

She believes that the low salaries for journalists in Ghana contribute to the decline in the quality of journalism.
During an interview with KSM, the former TV3 news anchor emphasized the need for media organizations to prioritize better salaries for their journalists, suggesting that it would enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.

She pointed out that at present, she pays her shop attendants better than some journalists are paid in Ghana, expressing concern about the state of the profession.
“In 2024, if you pay a Journalist Ghc 3,000 as basic you haven’t committed any crime. But if I tell you the salaries of journalists…I even pay my staff at the cement shop even better than some of them. Money is an important factor in journalism. If people are paid well, they will work their heart off,” she said.
