At Clear Creek High School, Cantu was a four-time All-District 24-6A First Team pick and a three-time all-county selection. She also served on the student council and was a member of four separate National Honor Societies.

Cantu was Born on March 24, 2001. She is 21 years old. She is the daughter of Perla and Carlos Cantu. She has four siblings, Adrianna, Adriana, Carlos Jr. and Samuel who is majoring in finance.

Cantu hit a solo home run to the right centre in the series opener against No. 1 Oklahoma on April 16. Brianna recorded her first Texas hit in a 9-3 victory against Sam Houston State on February 26 and her first collegiate RBI in a 10-0 (5-inning) thrashing of Lamar.

Cantu appeared in 16 games as a freshman at Texas Tech for the Red Raiders, starting eight of them at first base, third base, or designated player.

Cantu’s best performance of the season came in a 9-5 win over Louisiana Tech on February 8, when she went 3-for-3 with a career-high two doubles.
