Brian Meeney, who had a particular magic wand for reviving flagging programs, guided St. Thomas to an undefeated regular season this past fall and an overall record of 9-1 in his third season. The Trojans won four games in each of the previous three seasons and were 2-8 in 2017.

Jerry Smith, the athletic director at St. Thomas Aquinas, as expected, was very heartbroken when the news of Brian Meeney’s death got to him on Thursday morning.

An hour and a half after that phone call, Jerry Smith made his saddest speech ever when he summoned the football squad to the school auditorium.

Jerry Smith said of Brian Meeney;

“I’m like the father figure he never had in his life. We had our arguments, but we always had our love.”

Brian Meeney appeared to love to keep his personal life private hence there is no information regarding his marital status as well as whether he had kids.
