Brian Langton, a former mayor, a long-time Kogarah state Labor MP, and a minister in the Carr administration, passed away at the age of 75.
Mr. Langton received his education at Marist Brothers at Kogarah, and at the age of 23, he began his political career by winning a seat on the Kogarah Council. In addition to his twelve years in the council, he served as mayor in 1979 and 1980.

After being chosen to serve in the NSW Legislative Assembly in 1983, Mr. Langton retired in March 1999. When Labor took over as the government in 1995, Mr. Langton was appointed Minister of Transport and Tourism after serving as the position’s shadow.

Before being named Minister for Fair Trading and Emergency Services in December 1997, he served in such capacities. He was chosen to serve as the chairman of Sydney Ferries Corporation in 2008.
