A redshirt freshman wide reciever on the Emporia State Football team died on Saturday, after jumping off a cliff into Grand Lake in northeast Oklahoma.

A rescue crew in Delaware County received an emergency call in the evening and found the body in 31 feet of water. School officials confirmed that 20-year-old Brexten Green died in the accident.

The school’s head coach said, “It’s a terrible day for Emporia State football and just a devastating loss for the Green family. Brexten was a great teammate who cared so much about his football program…”. Green would have played his first season for Emporia State this year after being redshirted last season.
