Brendan Malone children: Meet Mike Malone

Brendan Malone, a former NBA head coach and a longtime assistant coach, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 81.
Malone spent nearly 30 years as an NBA coach, most recently serving as an assistant with the Detroit Pistons in 2016.

The father of current Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone is the former head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors. With a 4-1 series victory against the Miami Heat, Michael Malone led the Denver Nuggets to their first-ever NBA Championship in 2023.

The Nuggets announced that assistant coach David Adelman will take over for Michael Malone for Denver’s preseason game against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Malone was the first head coach of the Raptors, who also expressed their sympathy on X.

Brendan Malone is the father of Mike Malone. Brendan and Michael Malone are the only father-son coaching duo to have both won NBA titles. As a consultant for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Malone joined the coaching staff of the Serbian national team in January 2020.
