Brandon Bruce Lee was a martial artist and actor from the United States. In the early 1990s, he established himself as a rising action star, landing his breakthrough role as Eric Draven in the dark fantasy film The Crow (1994). Lee’s career, however, was cut short by his untimely death during the filming of The Crow.

Lee was filming a scene for the film The Crow in which his character is shot and killed by thugs on March 31, 1993. In the scene, Lee’s character walks into his apartment to find his fiancée being beaten and raped, and a thug played by actor Michael Massee fires a Smith & Wesson Model 629.44 Magnum revolver at him as he walks into the room.

However, the gun was not properly checked and cleared before the blank was fired, and the previously lodged dummy bullet was propelled forward by the blank’s propellant and shot out the muzzle with nearly the same force as if the round had been live, striking Lee in the abdomen.
Lee was airlifted to Wilmington, North Carolina’s New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Attempts to save him were futile, and Lee died on March 31, 1993, at 1:03 p.m., after six hours of emergency surgery. He was 28 years old at the time.
