Brandi Chastain is a former professional soccer player from the United States. She is the daughter of Lark Chastain and Roger Chastain.

She started playing football when she was eight years old. After a successful tryout, she played for the boys’ football team because there was no ladies’ football team at Davis Junior High School.
Brandi Chastain has two FIFA Women’s World Cup titles, two Olympic gold medals, is a coach, and a sports broadcaster. From 1988 through 2004, she was a member of the United States national team.

She scored 30 goals in 192 appearances for the team, mostly as a defender and midfielder. In the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup final, she scored the game-winning penalty shootout goal against China.
In 2013, Chastain was chosen to the USWNT All-Time Best XI. She was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in March 2017 and inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
After retiring from professional soccer, Brandi Chastain has been actively involved in promoting women’s sports and advocating for gender equality in sports. Her impact on women’s soccer and sports, in general, continues to be recognized and celebrated worldwide.
