Jerry Smith is an American soccer coach who is now the head coach of Santa Clara University’s women’s soccer programme. He started his coaching career in 1980 as the head boys’ football coach at his alma school, Homestead High School in Cupertino, California, where he stayed for seven seasons.

Jerry Smith became the head coach at Santa Clara University in 1987 after receiving his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from California State University, Hayward in 1986. He led the Broncos to their first NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship in 2001, when they defeated 17-time champion North Carolina 1-0. Smith was appointed head coach of the United States women’s national under-21 football team in 2001.
