Robert Huggins is a college basketball coach, and current head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers men’s basketball team.
Born on September 21, 1953, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Huggings had a successful playing career playing as a point guard in Ohio University and West Virginia University from 1972 to 1977.

He had averaged 13.2 points as a senior, and recorded a total of 800 career points in his three collegiate seasons.
Huggins began his coaching career at West Virginia, in 1977. As a college coach, he has served as head coach at Walsh College, the University of Akron, the University of Cincinnati and Kansas State University.
While he was at Walsh, Huggings made a 71–26 record, and earned the NAIA District 22 Coach of the Year honors on two occasions.
In 2007, Huggins began coaching West Virginia University. He has so far appeared in 24 NCAA tournaments, and has averaged 23 wins per season over the course of his career.
He is the second coach to win 300 games at two schools, and the second-winningest coach in West Virginia history.
