Mayor Robert “Bob” Hardey, 66, of Westlake died on Saturday (Jan. 29, 2022) morning at his home after battling a brain tumor, city officials announced.

Prior to being mayor of Westlake, Bob Hardey served on the city council for more than a decade.
Bob Hardey took office on Jan. 1, 2015, and was serving his second term at the helm of the city.
Mayor Bob Hardey was recognized as Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce in 2021 for his accomplishments as mayor during a time of hardship for Southwest Louisiana.

Jody Barilleaux with the West Cal Chamber of Commerce spoke very highly of Bob Hardey.
Jody Barilleaux said;
“He was a giving man and we loved him.”
“He was very professional and we all had a great business relationship as well as a personal relationship and we will greatly miss Mr. Bob.”
