Goldman died on Friday, July 25, 2023, at age 90. No cause of death was announced. He wrote the screenplay for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The film won all five top Academy Awards including an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Goldman. It was the first film to win five top awards since Frank Capra’s It Happened One Night in 1934. Goldman also received the Writers Guild Award and the Golden Globe Award.
