BMX Star Pat Casey Cause of Death

BMX rider Pat Casey died after an accident at a motocross track in San Diego on June 6 2023.   He was 29.

Authorities said a man crashed his motorcycle on Tuesday afternoon while performing a jump on the ramps at the Slayground Motocross Park in Ramona. He missed his landing and the motorcycle reportedly fell on top of him, police confirmed.

“Deputies and paramedics attempted life-saving measures. However, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a release.

Police said they responded to a report of a person who had been involved in a motorcycle accident at around 2:45 p.m. local time.  The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating Pat Casey’s accident and death because it occurred on private property.

Casey’s fellow BMX riders and fans were quick to pay tribute to the sports star on social media. One fan wrote: “Lost another BMX legend. Damn RIP Pat Casey. The sickest box jumps” Another wrote: “Ride In Peace, Pat Casey.”

Pat Casey won multiple X Games medals and placed in a variety of events. The BMX star was also recognised as the first rider to successfully execute the decade backflip and double-decade backflip in competition. He is survived by his wife Chase, their two kids and his parents Molly and Vince.
