Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 12-year-old daughter, has joined the cast of the upcoming Lion King prequel, “Mufasa: The Lion King.” In the film, Blue Ivy voices Kiara, the daughter of King Simba and Queen Nala, played by her mother Beyoncé.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, the prequel explores Mufasa’s backstory and childhood with his brother Scar, blending live-action techniques with photoreal computer-generated imagery.

Jenkins praised Blue Ivy’s professionalism and highlighted the natural mother-daughter dynamic between her and Beyoncé on set. The teaser trailer for the film was revealed on Good Morning America, hinting at Mufasa’s transformative journey.

Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr voice the younger versions of Mufasa and Scar, respectively, with Donald Glover returning as Simba. The cast includes Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Seth Rogan, and Billy Eichner, with Lin-Manuel Miranda contributing original songs.
