Masters received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Stanford University in 2008. He then earned a J.D. from Stanford University Law School in 2012

Masters is the Republican Party’s nominee in Arizona’s 2022 U.S. Senate race, defeating state Attorney General Mark Brnovich and businessman Jim Lamon in the August 2 primary.

In 2014, Masters and Thiel co-wrote Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future, based on notes Masters took at Stanford Law School in 2012. Masters later became the chief operating officer of Thiel Capital and the president of the Thiel Foundation.

In 2013, Masters co-founded Judicata, a legal research service. Although Masters left the project in 2014, the website was officially launched in 2017.
