Blake Hounshell died on January 10, 2023, after a “battle with depression,” according to the paper. He was 44.

According to reports, the police discovered his body near the Taft Bridge and are investigating his death as a suicide.

Blake Hounshell, who graduated from Yale University in 2002, got his start in journalism after studying Arabic in Cairo, Egypt, according to The New York Times.

In 2011, he was a finalist for a Livingston Award for his coverage of the Arab uprisings. Hounshell transferred from Politico, where he served as managing editor for Washington and politics, to The New York Times.

During his eight years with the network, he was in charge of coverage of the Congress, the White House, the legal system, national security, and defence, among other things. Hounshell was formerly the magazine’s managing editor for Foreign Policy.
