Black Sherif’s ‘Second Sermon’ Lands Him AFRIMA 2021 Nomination

One of Ghana’s new favorite rappers, Black Sheriff has bagged his first international award nomination at the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards.

Sherif got nominated for Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Hip Hop with his song, Second Sermon along with other popular African rappers like Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, Vector, and others.

‘Second Sermon’ is the first Ghanaian solo song to rake in over 1 million views on YouTube 24 hours after its release. Even though Yaw Tog’s ‘Sore’ remix and Gyakie’s ‘Forever’ remix also achieved such height, they both had different artistes on the song, while Sherif single-handedly battled his way through to the top.

Prior to the video release of ‘Second Sermon,’ most people ridiculed him after a few photos from the video shoot hit online. They expressed that his fight against poverty has been so fierce and personal.

However, the video went on to become one of the most streamed songs by a Ghanaian artiste this year. As of today (23rd September 2021), just two months after its release, ‘Second Sermon’ has raked a little over 6 million views on YouTube.
