Bison Dele disappeared on July 7, 2002, and is presumed dead. On July 6, 2002, Bison Dele set sail from Tahiti on his catamaran, the “Hakuna Matata,” along with his girlfriend, Serena Karlan, and two other crew members.

The group had planned to sail to Hawaii, but they never made it there.  In the following weeks, the “Hakuna Matata” was discovered floating in the waters of the South Pacific, with no sign of the four passengers.

The boat was eventually towed to Tahiti, where investigators found evidence of a violent struggle, including blood stains and bullet holes on the boat.

Bison Dele’s brother was later found guilty of murder in connection with their disappearance, although the circumstances of what happened on the yacht remain unclear.

Miles Dabord claimed that he and his brother had fought and that Karlan was accidentally hit and killed when her head struck a part of the boat.

When Saldo attempted to report her death, a panicked Dele shot him; Dabord then shot his brother in self-defence, threw the bodies overboard, and fled back to the United States.

If Dabord’s story is true, that Dele wanted to kill Saldo and that Dabord had to shoot Dele in self-defence, it does not explain why Dabord allegedly threw all three bodies overboard and then purposefully overdosed on insulin instead of telling authorities what had happened.
