Billie Jean Moore was a college basketball coach in the United States. Moore’s marital status at the time of her death is unknown. There is no information about her survivors either.

Billie Jean Moore died on December 15, 2022, at home in Fullerton, California, at age 79. She had been in hospice care with multiple myeloma.

Moore began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Southern Illinois University, where she was pursuing her master’s degree.

Billie Moore was the first coach in women’s basketball history to lead two teams to national championships.

Billie Moore coached the California State-Fullerton team from 1969 to 1977 (winning the AIAW national title her first year with the team in 1970) and the UCLA team from 1977 to 1993.

Her overall record as a college coach was 436-196. Moore led the United States Olympic women’s basketball team to a silver medal at the Montreal Olympics.

Moore was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999, as well as the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

In 2002, Moore received the Naismith Women’s Outstanding Contribution Award. Moore wrote Basketball, Theory and Practice.
