Billel Benhammouda died on June 10, 2022, at the age of 24 years due to a ghastly car accident that he encounters on his way home after he represented Algeria in their 3-0 win against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a friendly game.
Billel Benhammouda’s car hit a post with a concrete base and it caused massive damage to his car and caused his death.

Billel Benhammouda was a member of the USM Algiers team that won the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 in the 2018/2019 season. Billel Benhammouda made six senior appearances for the Algerian senior national team and he bagged two goals.
Prior to joining USM Algiers, Billel Benhammouda played for the youth side and the senior team of USMM Hadjout. Billel Benhammouda played as an attacking midfielder and he was quite instrumental in his role.
